3D Printing

3D Printing

3D printing, or additive manufacturing, is the process of creating three-dimensional objects from a digital file by adding material layer by layer.

The 3D printing process

  1. 3D modeling: First, a virtual design of the object is created using computer-aided design (CAD) software, a 3D scanner, or photogrammetry software.

  2. Slicing: The 3D model is then processed by "slicer" software, which digitally divides the model into hundreds or thousands of thin, horizontal layers. This program also generates the G-code, a file containing the precise instructions for the printer.
